Heart’s Longing // Satisfaction

When I long for a Father to cradle me in His arms,

You are there.

As I yearn for a mother to spend time with me and encourage me,

You satisfy.

On the days I look for a brother or sister to have fun with,

You welcome me with adventure.

As I desire to bond with a friend with heart-to-heart conversations,

You commune with me.

Have you ever longed for or desired any of the things I listed above? I’m sure you have. You’re human. We all have these deep inner longings that are ever so hard to silence. Lately, I’ve been recognizing these legit longings more than usual. At first, I began to despise it. Then, I realized that it was okay….. Me becoming more aware of these natural longings mean my heart is coming ever so more alive in this season. & I love that. I want my heart to be FULLY ALIVE. That being said – the other side of this is that sometimes we can place way too high of expectations on people. I want to encourage and remind you that these yearnings can be satisfied. By Jesus, and Jesus alone. Don’t get me wrong! Fathers, brothers, sisters, mothers, and relationships are wonderful and apart of God’s design! However, at the end of the day… all these needs that you have can be met by One Man. Jesus. No one has ever been able to satisfy these deep longing that humans have, and no one ever will. That void you feel deep within yourself was created by God for only Him to fill. Lean into Him. Let Him be The One who satisfies your heart. I promise He will.

Results from allowing Jesus to satisfy these longings:

  1. The relationships in your life take on their proper dynamic and therefore become healthier.
  2. You are more able to control your reactions to what people do to you, or don’t do to you.
  3. You will become more emotionally stable and balanced.

These are just a few things I’ve personally experienced in my walk with Jesus as I allow Him to fully satisfy the needs of my heart. Hope this encourages you!

Love y’all a lot.

Psalm 107:9 – For He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.

Isaiah 58:11 – The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden like an ever-flowing spring.

Psalm 91:16 – I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.
